I would like to begin this review about the superb game Super Panda Adventure Tour by saying that I feel like I just went back in time! Just after downloading the application and opening it, you will be taken to a screen where a cute little panda is hanging off the title board. In the same screen are some of his pals (I imagine) which are a slime, a pig and a floating eye sort of creature.
Tapping anywhere on the screen will bring up a world map sort of route where there are various levels. The goal here is to complete each level by achieving three stars after which you reach a treasure box. I do not know what treasures lie hidden within that box since this game is challenging and it would take me a while to master it and reach there.
Now, the reason I wrote the named my review as such is due to the sheer fact that this game really reminds me of my childhood favorite video games, Super Mario Brothers and Adventure Island. This game is a really cool combination of both those games and I really enjoy it.
Since this is a sideways game, the panda which is controlled by the player has to reach the end of the level. Along the way, there are several obstacles such as monsters, who can be defeated with the bats, or by jumping on top of them. Now the trick here is to use the bats only when necessary, this is because, during the start, you are only equipped with three bats. This is alright as you would get chances to collect bats along the way. Other things that can be collected are coins, which can be used to unlock levels, as well as stars which are important for progress.
I really enjoyed this game and the best parts I liked are the simplicity of the controls. They also take me back to the video game times. Another aspect I like is the limited number of bats, they make the game much more challenging and fun. The obstacles in this game are versatile so it takes quite a few attempts in clearing the levels, which I personally enjoy, this makes the game last longer.
The game is near perfect but not quite. The graphics are what make this game really unique and I do not have any problems with them. However, I feel this game could introduce some different characters as it does get boring playing with just one character all the way through. They could at least introduce some new inventory for the panda. Another point which the game could improve upon is the number of levels. For a 300+ megabyte game, the Super Panda Adventure Tour has a very limited number of levels. Introducing some new and challenging zones. This would also keep the players hooked. Lastly, the game could do with some events which offer unique items which are not otherwise available. This would make the game perfect. Regardless, I will continue enjoying the game while waiting for the new updates. 5 Stars for taking me back!
